Audio recording books are essential for your success. Here's what I recommend.

Educating yourself using audio recording books is your best bet for your success. Building a home recording studio is the easy part. You just gather up the necessary recording audio equipment. The hard part is learning how to use all the equipment and use it well.
Of course music is very subjective and what sounds good to one person may not sound good to another person. There are however some basic things you need to learn to be successful. If I'm sounding like a teacher now, then that's good. I use to teach High School and I know the importance of learning about the job you're going to do.
If you're fortunate enough and can attend the Julliard school of music, then that's the best way. Another possible way, is to take some online classes. OR!
If you want to do it the hard way like I did, there's loads of books on the market at Amazon.com and other book stores that can lead the way.
Here's a list of audio recording books that I recommend. They're the ones that guided me along.
1. The Mixing Engineer's Handbook
2. Practical Recording Techniques
3. A Music Producer's Thoughts to Create By
4. Producing Music With Samples, Loops and MIDI
5. The MIDI Files
6. Home Recording Power
7. Producing Hit Records: Secrets From The Studio
8. Digital Home Recording
9. Making Great Demos
10. The Musicians Home Recording Handbook
11. Home Recording For Musicians For Dummies
And of course, there'll be all the tech manuals that you get with the equipment to read. Happy reading.
