Other Multi Track Recorders for people on a budget.

There are other multi track recorders for people that just don't have the cash to shell out. Pictured above is the Fostex VF16 that I was using before I switched to a PC based home recording studio.

The Fostex has a hard drive built into it. There are newer versions of this unit out now that have a CD burner built in. Since mine didn't have that, I had to have an interface to load my mixdowns into the computer so I could burn them onto a CD. And since I had to have an interface, (I used the WaveCenter PCI) I could use my MIDI keyboard to create other tracks.

Thank goodness we evolved out of what I had before that. The unit that preceeded the Fostex was a Tascam 8 track mini cassette recorder. And before that I had a 4 track cassette recorder.

The same recording tips still apply for recording vocals and guitars.

If you use one of these recorders, you might consider letting me record the basic tracks, like drums, bass, maybe rhythm or lead guitar, piano and then you can record whatever instrument you play and your own vocals.

You can go to your favorite music store to compare what's available now.

Some of the songs that I recorded on my Fostex are, As Long As You Are There, The Springer Show and Move To Montana. Click here and scroll down on the player to hear those songs.
